Portugal 2016

In September 2016 our little family spent two weeks in Portugal, a welcome treat after a busy September preparing for the launch of my book and cooking for the summer edition of the Good Supper. We flew into Faro and then drove to Algarve where we did nothing but eat, swim and sleep for ten days in the stunning Vila Rosa. If you are planning a holiday and would like to spend a week in your own private slice of heaven, I couldn’t recommend Vila Rosa more highly.

Whilst Algarve was nice, Portugal didn’t truly captivate me until we visited Lisbon. We loved it so much that if we weren’t already planning on returning to Melbourne, we would be seriously considering Lisbon as our new place to call home. Highlights were wandering around Alfama, visiting LX Factory and our day trip to the gothic and breathtaking Sintra, a town who’s beauty simply cannot be justified through a lens. We only spent three nights in Lisbon so didn’t get to immerse ourselves as deeply as we would have liked, but it has been dubbed one of Europes coolest cities right now and I can see why. Pop Lisbon on your list and GO people! Just don’t make the mistake of taking a car like we did. Oops!
