What to Look for When Choosing Vegan Restaurants in Detroit

Before jumping into the restaurants, here are some simple things that help when planning where to eat – we found these really helpful as we navigated eateries:

  • Look for restaurants that genuinely consider plant-based flavors rather than removing ingredients and calling it vegan.
  • Whole-food dishes are ideal on long days out or when you want something that actually makes you feel good afterwards.
  • Mixed-group menus help a lot if your family isn’t fully vegan. Many Detroit spots handle this well and we found this super helpful when visiting with friends.
  • Check opening times ahead of time – some independent places have shorter hours or close on certain days.
  • Locally made sauces, fresh ingredients, and scratch cooking usually mean the most flavor with the least fuss.
